Manufactured Window Cills
Window Cills can be measured in two ways either as an OPENING size (just the width of the aperture) or as an OVERALL size (which is the aperture size plus 102mm each end to accommodate the Stooling) and they are available in 2 designs.
Both types of cills come in various depths of 150mm, 175mm or 215mm depending on the cavity requirement i.e. if you are building a timber frame house, then it is often that the builder will require a 175mm depth cill. Both cills should be bedded in and pointed up.
We have included details of each of the types of cill below.
SLIP Cills
SLIP Cills can be manufactured in both ways, depending on your choice, but are generally used when render is being applied as the finish to the building. These cills can also be used to form 45 or 90 degree bay unit details.
Slip Cill Profile (SLC)
This is our standard 150mm Cast Stone Slip Cill.
The 150mm can be replaced with 175mm or 215mm.
There are no stools with this style of cill.
STOOLED Cills
STOOLED Cills are always manufactured with the extra 102mm at each end to give the impression that the brickwork is sitting on the cill, and is generally used when leaving a brickwork finish. These cills should be built at the same time the building is being built.
Stooled Cill Profile (STC)
This is our standard 150mm Cast Stone Stooled Cill.
The 150mm can be replaced with 175mm or 215mm.
